My name is Jim Mann. I’m Technology Coordinator for the Greene County Public Library in Xenia Ohio. We’re the 10th largest library system in Ohio and have 7 branches, a tech services center and a bookmobile.

I think that there are two things you have to overcome when you consider blogging. First finding your “voice” so you have something to blog about. The second is setting a schedule for updating your blog. Some blogs like  Stephen’s Lighthouse seem to update all the time. Others like my friend Laura Solomon’s Library Geek Woes are updated once a week. My plan is to try to add something useful at least once a day. I’m thinking about blogging over my first cup of coffee.

Finding a voice my be the hardest thing. As a rule I’m kind of a grumpy old man and get very frustrated by how libraries and librarians are adapting to an amazoogle world, but I’m going to focus on three things:

• Marketing
• Open Source software solutions for libraries
• Computer repair and computer tips

So we’ll see how dedicated to this project I’m going to be.
